102 mph On SR 63 Leads To Marijuana Arrest

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind – Saturday (11/9/19) around 9:30P.M. a vehicle was clocked traveling south on S.R. 63 near the jail at 94 MPH in a 60 MPH zone.  While attempting to catch the vehicle another deputy clocked the same vehicle at 102 MPH. The vehicle was stopped at C.R. 450 S.

While speaking with the driver about her speed an odor of marijuana was smelled coming from the vehicle.  The driver was identified as a 17-year-old juvenile from Terre Haute.

A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 108 grams of suspected marijuana.  A back-seat passenger was identified as 19-year-old Zion Gaither from Terre Haute was arrested for possession of marijuana.

The female was released to her parents with a promise to appear.  She charged with possession of marijuana, reckless driving and a citation for speeding.

Gaither was booked into the Vermillion County Jail and is being held with bond set at $5,000 with ten percent allowed.
