INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA — Indiana Treasurer Kelly Mitchell, along with Superintendent Jennifer McCormick, launched “Right on the Money” Wednesday.

There is a video was created to aid Hoosier teachers and families as they increase students’ financial awareness.

“It was a joy to be a part of the creation of this resource,” said Treasurer Mitchell. “I hope Hoosier students benefit from more financial education opportunities in the classroom and, in turn, that will make Indiana a financially stronger state.”

Through a partnership between IHCDA, CollegeChoice 529 Savings Plan and the Indiana Treasurer of State’s office, “Right on the Money” was produced to provide a financial education opportunity for young Hoosiers. This video explains the path of Indiana tax dollars in providing services to residents.

“Creating educational opportunities for Indiana students on important topics including financial literacy is vital to preparing students for life beyond high school,” said Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction. “I am happy to partner with Treasurer Mitchell and her staff on offering this resource. I am confident our kids will be better for it.”

The video fulfills 4th Grade Indiana Social Studies Standard 4.4.9: Identify important goods and services provided by state and local governments by giving examples of how state and local tax revenues are used. Both an interactive online quiz and printable worksheets are available to educators to supplement the lessons learned in the video.
