STATEWIDE–There is “tremendous excitement” from people in Indiana when it comes to sports betting.

That was the message from Matthew Bell, CEO of Casino Association of Indiana when he spoke to Inside Indiana Business Monday. He was recapping what he saw from sports bettors so far from the brief time sports betting has been legal in the state.

“Clearly, it’s been demonstrated that there is a market of folks who want to find a way to wager legally on the games, sports, and events that they love. We’ve seen wonderful crowds at grand openings from Shelbyville, to Indianapolis, in northwest Indiana, and East Chicago as well,” Bell said.

He says sports betting will bring lots of money to the state.

“I think the potential is significant. I think we’ll see additional revenue of more than $50 million a year once sports wagering is fully implemented. That will include mobile wagering Indiana, which is coming sooner rather than later,” Bell said.

Bell says the casinos, racinos, and off-track betting parlors in the state will soon offer facilities that are on par with things you would see in Las Vegas or anywhere around the world.

Indiana recently became the 12th state in the country to offer sports betting.
