Authorities Want To Garnish Shahadey’s Pension

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Prosecutors are trying to recover thousands of dollars stolen from the Vigo County School Corporation in a kickback scheme.

Frank Shahadey entered a guilty plea and the judge ordered him to pay $80,700

Online court records show Shahadey has paid about $1,200 of that so far.

The government asked for his deputy sheriff’s pension to be garnished to help cover the restitution.

Shahadey and his attorney maintain that those funds are exempt under the law.

A hearing is set for July 16th, but the U.S. Attorney’s Office wants the garnishment to begin now.
