INDIANA –  Indiana may be completely bare of bears. The last one reported, was reported in February in southern Indiana, said Dept. of Natural Resources biologist Geriann Albers.

“We don’t think we have one right now,” said Albers.  “There was two different ones down south, one in Big Oaks and another one about Thanksgiving of last year that got hit by a car on Interstate 64, not too far north of Louisville.”

Albers said she doesn’t know if that one went home, but as of now she does not believe Indiana has any bears.

“They are pretty neat. Every once in a while we get a young one roam through.”
