Body Found In Wabash River Between Hutsonville And Merom

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind – Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputies were called out Wednesday night around 9p.m. when a boater found a man’s body in the Wabash River.

The discovery was made about two-and-one-half miles south of State Road 154.

Indiana Conservation Officers launched their boat to help in the recovery.

Units from Crawford County, Illinois Sheriff’s Office and Illinois Department of Natural Resources also assisted.

Sheriff Cottom stated the body was that of an adult white male. The body was clothed and appeared to have been in the water less than 48 hours.

An autopsy has been scheduled for today at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

Sheriff Cottom has also requested Indiana State Police technicians to assist with identification of the body through fingerprints and DNA.
