Brazil Man Arrested In Sullivan County For Allegedly Stealing Electric Wiring

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind – Sullivan County Police have arrested a Brazil man for allegedly stealing wire from an abandoned electrical substation.

On Sunday (1/12/20) Sullivan Deputy Lt. Bill Snead came across a pickup truck parked along CR 350, near SR 54 around 3:20 in the afternoon.

The officers noticed a male subject walking toward the pickup truck, from an abandon electrical substation.

As the man drove away, police stopped 26-year-old Jared Cooksey of Brazil. Police say that Cooksey’s driver’s license was listed as suspended and that he is a habitual traffic violator.

Cooksey was also found in possession of aluminum wiring, which police determined had been removed from the abandon substation.

Cooksey was arrested and was preliminarily charged with being a Habitual Traffic Violator and Theft.
