Brazil Police Investigate Weekend Shooting

BRAZIL, Ind. – Brazil police are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday in the area of Deloss and Depot Streets.

The local hospital called police around 5 p.m. when 20-year-old Gavin Johnson showed up for treatment after being shot in the hand.

Officials say the 17-year-old suspect fired a shot with a handgun at Johnson and a woman. The two then got into a physical fight where a couple of more shots were fired with the final shot hitting Johnson in the hand.

The 17-year-old fled but was later arrested and is being held in the Vigo County Juvenile Detention Center on preliminary charges of aggravated battery, and criminal recklessness.

He is set to appear in juvenile court today.
