VIGO COUNTY, Ind.  – A referendum to decide if there will be a casino in Vigo County will be held his fall.

On Monday the Vigo County Election Board decided that the question will go before voters in November.

The question will read ‘Shall inland casino gambling be permitted in Vigo County?’

If residents vote yes this fall, that keeps the casino process moving.

If voters answer no, leaders will have to wait at least two years before it can be on the ballot again.

Also on Monday the board approved four additional vote centers for the Nov. 5 election.

A second referendum could also be added to the ballot for a property tax increase to provide $7 million to the Vigo County School Corp. No referendum has yet been filed by the school corporation. The school corporation has until Aug. 1 to file for a November referendum.

The added vote centers will be at the International Union of Operating Engineers, 6801 S. U.S. 41; Vigo County Solid Waste Management District office, 3230 E. Haythorne Ave.; Seelyville Town Hall, 2299 N. Main Street, Seelyville; Sugar Creek Fire Department, 375 National Ave. in West Terre Haute.

The fire department will replace the West Terre Haute First Assembly of God church as a voting site in West Terre Haute for the November municipal election.

Voters can vote at any vote center in the county.
