VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind – Sunday evening (5/19/19) around 10:15 PM, the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man driving recklessly through Hillsdale.

The called identified the man as 35 year old Jacob Moulton of Clinton.

Officers went to Moulton’s home in Fairview Park, he was not at the home but they did spot him a few minutes later southbound on Kibby Street.

They say that he was speeding, honking his horn and playing the radio so loudly that officers heard the music a block or more away.

Moulton refused to stop for officers and led the officers on a 12.5 mile pursuit through Fairview Park, Clinton, and finally ending in Shepardsville.

Officers say that the chase reached speeds of 100MPH on rural roads and 75 MPH on city streets.

Officers noticed that Moulton had his pit-bull inside the vehicle and that the dog was being thrown around the vehicle during the pursuit.

Officers deployed stop sticks. Moulton lost control of the vehicle and pulled into the yard of a residence on Shirley Street in Shepardsville.

After a short foot pursuit, Moulton arrested.

While in custody, handcuffed and seat belted in the patrol vehicle, Moulton was able to unbuckle his seatbelt, open the patrol car door and escape.  He was apprehended again a few hours later.
