Conviction Upheld

TERRE HAUTE Ind. – A Terre Haute man convicted of murder and sentenced to 90 years in prison will stay in jail.

The Court of Appeals decided to uphold the conviction and sentence Friday.

Phillip Evans was convicted to killing Joshua Thomas in 2013.

Police said Evans had a role in the beating and stabbing death of Thomas on New Year’s Eve of 2013.

The court cited his criminal history and the viciousness of the attack for its decision.
