VIGO COUNTY, Ind.  – Now that the Terre Haute City Council has approved rezoning of a former golf course, Vigo County leaders hope to close on the new jail property behind Honey Creek Mall in a couple of weeks.

County Council President Brad Anderson has been quoted as saying that there are still hurdles to get through that include finalizing the jail design, bids, and bonds.

Once that happens, the goal is to start moving dirt and build a road.

Commissioners plan to hold a public meeting about updated jail plans at a later date.
