VIGO COUNTY, Ind. — A trial date has been set for a Vigo County man facing nearly 20 counts of rape and sexual misconduct.

Michael Courtland South, 41, is accused of raping and molesting a teenage girl for more than a year.

South is charged with one count of rape and 16 counts of sexual misconduct with a minor for abuse that began when the teenage girl was in middle school.

The girl told police that South started abusing her when he lived with her family in Clay County. She said the abuse continued even after he moved to Vigo County.

Investigators later found items in South’s Seelyville home that tested positive for the girl’s DNA, reports The Tribune-Star newspaper.

A trial is set for Dec. 2.
