December Trial Date Set For Tanoos

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind – Former Vigo County School Superintendent Dan Tanoos appeared in a Marion County court room this morning for an initial hearing on charges of bribery.

Tanoos is accused of soliciting and accepting gifts such as concert tickets, and dinners from Energy Systems Group and its representative Doug Tischbein in 2013 and 2014.

The company was awarded millions of dollars in contracts to perform energy saving projects at multiple school buildings in the Vigo County system.

During the short hearing, a trial date was set for December 6th with a pretrial hearing on November 21st.

He cannot leave the state without the judge’s consent.

Tanoos is facing one class C felony bribery count which carries a maximum penalty of 8 years in jail.

He also faces two level five bribery charges which each carry a maximum sentence of 6 years in prison.
