Details Released In Police Action Shooting, Arrest Made

CLINTON, Ind – More information has been released in a police action shooting that happened last Saturday night (3/16/19) in Vermillion County.

Indiana State Police that shortly after 9 p.m. police were called about a possible drunk driver.

Clinton City Police Officer John Alkire tried to stop the vehicle but 49-year-old Craig Boradach of Paris, Ill. used his pick-up truck to pin the officer against his patrol car.

Alkire used his police weapon to shoot Boradach.

Boradach was arrested after being released from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN where he had been treated for two gunshot wounds.

Boradach faces felony charges of Battery on Law Enforcement Officer, Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated/Resulting in Bodily Injury and other chargers.

Alkire is a three-and-half year veteran of the Clinton Police Department and is presently on paid administrative leave as the investigation continues.

It is a common practice for a police officer that has been involved in a police action shooting to be placed on administrative leave.

Once the state police investigation is completed it will be submitted to the Vermillion County Prosecutor’s Office for review and action as deemed appropriate by that office.
