Do You Have An Idea For A New Historical Marker?

INDIANA – Interested in installing and dedicating a new state historical marker sometime in 2020? If so, now is the time to apply. 2019-2020 Indiana state historical marker applications are due next month, on Friday, June 21, 2019.

You can see more information on the “Apply for a Marker” web page. That is where you can download the application and see the Guidelines and Procedures to learn more about the process.

Officials say that topics should demonstrate statewide and/or national significance to be eligible for a state marker.

Throughout the month of April, IHB staff produced a four-part Facebook Live series entitled “History is Live” that broke down different parts of the application, provided information on the eligibility requirements, and offered suggestions on how to locate primary source documentation. You can access these videos on the Indiana Historical Bureau’s Facebook page.
