Driver Accused Of Hitting Flagman Appears In Court

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind – An update on an accident that happened Thursday evening in Putnam County on U.S.231 south of Greencastle.

Police say that a vehicle driven by 52 year old Jessie Parks did not stop for a traffic flagger working for Wabash Valley Asphalt. Two vehicles had stopped and were waiting.  Parks hit those two vehicles and the flagman, 53 year old Danny Harrington on Terre Haute.

Police say that Harrington was critically injured and was flown to an Indianapolis hospital and is still undergoing treatment.

On Friday,  Parks appeared via video in Putnam Circuit Court where she was informed that she was being charged with two felonies; Level 6 felony Causing Serious Bodily Injury when Operating a Motor Vehicle with an ACE of .08% or more and Level 6 felony Reckless Operation of a Vehicle in a Highway Work Zone Resulting in Bodily Injury.

Each charge carries a sentence possibility of up to 2 ½ years in jail.
