Fennell Granted Extra Week To Report To Prison

VIGO COUNTY, Ind –  A Terre Haute man convicted by a jury of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the Vigo County School Corporation in a kick back scheme can wait a little while longer before reporting to prison.

Franklin Fennell has until 2 p.m. June 6 to turn himself in to federal prison authorities in Pekin, Illinois.

Fennell asked the Court of Appeals to delay his reporting date to June 15 so that he might aid in the recovery care of his daughter who will have to under go surgery due to a soccer injury.

The appeals court denied the request but did allow him to make the request to the court that tried his case.

On Monday U.S. Chief District Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson approve Fennell to wait until June 6 to report.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office did not oppose a one-week delay.

Fennell was convicted of theft, wire fraud, and lying to federal agents.
