WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – A man fired from the West Terre Haute Police Force is suing the town.

Jonathan Stevens, Sr. was convicted of a misdemeanor for excessive noise.

The original charge was for domestic battery.

Stevens wants the court to review the conditions of his dismissal.

He says that the police chief made a proposal to board members that involved keeping him as an officer if he pleaded guilty to the excessive noise charge.

Still, the West Terre Haute Town Board voted to dismiss Stevens.

Stevens claims that one of the board members had racial bias and that he should not have been part of the vote.
