Georgia Semi Driver Refuses To Stop For Police

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Several police departments were led on a chase that started in Cumberland County and ended Wednesday morning in Vigo County.

Officers stopped the semi-truck driven by 26-year-old Monterious Myrick of Milledgeville, Georgia for what was part of a narcotics investigation.

Myrick told the judge in court Wednesday that he was afraid for his safety when the officer asked him to get out of the truck in an unlit area, so he drove off.

At two times police placed stop sticks in the path of the truck flattening several tires on the truck but Monterious drove on.

Eventually the truck came to a stop when flattened tires and rims came apart and the truck came to a stop on its bumper in the east bound lanes at the 10-mile-marker.

Myrick was taken into custody without incident and is being held in the Vigo County Jail on a charge of resisting law enforcement other charges may be filed in Illinois.

Bond set at $10,000 and he will return to court on Monday.
