TERRE HAUTE – A familiar name will soon be returning to Indiana State University. Gregory Goode will be rejoining the staff of Indiana State to serve as executive director of government relations and university communications, ISU President Deborah J. Curtis announced today.

Curtis noted that in addition to the government relations role Goode had performed previously, university-level communications will also be part of his responsibility. Earlier this semester, the president had announced the creation of a mid-level communications position which will now report to Goode. A search for that position will be launched in the coming weeks.

Goode left Indiana State in December to become president and chief executive office of a nonprofit organization based in Washington State.

“Since that time, my family and I have suffered the personal loss of a dear family member, and this has caused my wife, Leslie, and me to reflect on what is most important in our life together. Keeping our family in the Wabash Valley where relatives from both sides are nearby and returning to serve Indiana State surfaced as my top priorities,” said Goode.

The position of executive director of government relations has remained vacant since Goode’s departure in December, Curtis said. Due to this being a biennial budget year, Indiana State had hired APPIAN, led by ISU alumnus Dennis Faulkenberg, to represent the university during the 2019 legislative session as a short-term measure until the session concludes this spring.

Goode will begin his new role on May 1.
