VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – Governor Eric Holcomb has officially signed the 1% food and beverage tax for Vigo County.
Now it’s up to the County Council to approve it.
If passed the $10 restaurant bill would be 10 cents more.
The money generated from the tax would be used to build and operate a new convention center in Terre Haute.
28 counties in the state already have this tax.
State Senator Jon Ford expects this tax to generate about $2 million each year.
