TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – The Hoosier Prairie Elementary School received a donation to its Backpack Program on Wednesday.

Kenny, Mike, Benny, and Brody Halstead are students at the school and sold hand-made bracelets.

They raised $500 for the program.

Bridges of Indiana matched that contribution with another $500.

Bridges helps people with disabilities.

The back-pack program gives food to students who might not have access to proper meals when not in school.

Around 50 of the school’s nearly 350 students benefit from the program.

Wednesday’s event also kicked off the school’s program called #Bethekindkid.

It’s part of a national movement to bring kindness to the community.
