INDIANAPOLIS — An Indiana House panel has approved changes that would make it more difficult for Hoosiers to change their gender on their driver’s license and other credentials issued by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

The BMV recently began issuing driver’s licenses and identification cards with a third gender option.

The House transportation committee voted 10-3 Wednesday to allow only the submission of a certified, amended birth certificate to the BMV to complete a gender identity change on credentials.
