Indiana House Passes Budget, But Some Say It’s Not Enough

INDIANAPOLIS  — The Indiana House has approved a Republican-backed state budget plan.

That budget would modestly boost school funding by just over 2 percent each of the next two years.

That is much less than advocacy groups and Democrats say is needed to give teachers significant pay raises.

The proposal was approved Monday by a 65-32 party-line vote.
