Indiana State Police Look For Gun Stolen From Troopers Vehicle

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Indiana State Police is asking the public to help identify a suspect involved in a break-in of a State Police vehicle.

Around 4 a.m. Monday morning, a suspect broke into two vehicles. One vehicle was a Trooper’s Indiana State Police car.  The break-ins occurred in Rio Subdivision in Northern Vigo County. The suspect took cash and most concerning a department issued hand gun. The hand gun is a Sig Sauer P227 .45 caliber pistol, black in color with a State Police emblem engraved on the top of the weapon near the rear sites.

Video obtained from surveillance cameras show the suspect checking vehicles in the area. The suspect appears to have short dark hair and is mostly clean-shaven except for hair on his chin. He also appears to be wearing running pants and a light-colored hoodie. The make of the vehicle appears to be an older model SUV, possibly a Chevy or GMC.
