INDOT Reschedules Lyford Intersection Project Full Closure

PARKE COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says that they will not close the Lyford intersection at U.S. 41 and State Road 163 this weekend as previously planned.

The full closure of the intersection will occur a weekend after Labor Day (Sept 7-10) towards the end of the project to make the final tie-in and complete all the surface asphalt work on the job.

Traffic will stay in this current configuration until the middle of next week with no through traffic on U.S. 41 north of this intersection to or from Rockville.

The official detour follows U.S. 36 to State Road 63 and back to U.S. 41.

Once reopened next week, traffic will still be maintained with the temporary traffic signals but in the new “T” configuration. All turning movements will be allowed once re-opened, and there will be no detours.

The existing, triangular 3-legged type intersection is being changed into a T-intersection with an all-way stop condition.  A short left turn lane will be included on the northbound approach.

The intersection project is scheduled to be completed at the end of September of this year.
