INDIANAPOLIS — Kids and their families will get to experience the country of Greece, in Indiana, starting this weekend.

The “Treasures of Ancient Greece” and “Take Me There: Greece” exhibits open Saturday at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

“It’s part of our international exhibit,” CEO and President Dr. Jeffrey Patchen said. “It began in 2009 with Egypt, then in 2014 with China, now in 2019 with Greece.”

Patchen says the museum will have over 150 unique ancient Greek artifacts, most that have never been seen in the United States before. The interactive part of the exhibit will give kids the chance to learn Greek, some Greek food and dances, and even adventure in a sea turtle rescue area.

The museum has had success in the past with their previous international exhibits, and Patchen is sure Greece will be successful as well.

“When we started with ‘Take Me There: Egypt,’ it was our first time doing something like that,” Patchen said. “We had it for four years, before closing it for construction of ‘Take Me There: China’ and people were, like, ‘Aww what? I thought Egypt was going to be here forever,’ and we had the same thing when we started constructing Greece.”

The exhibits open this Saturday, but you’ll have plenty of time to see Greece in Indy. “Treasures of Ancient Greece” will be open for six months, but the interactive “Take Me There: Greece” exhibit will be open at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis until 2023.
