PARKE COUNTY, Ind – After hearing of Riverton Park’s collection and fundraising efforts to benefit North Central High School, senior Brooklyn Thomas took it upon herself to secure a large bottle cap donation from Phoenix Packaging in Greencastle.

Thomas, along with Rich Bovair, a family friend and employee at Phoenix Packaging, was able to obtain a donation of 4,000 pounds of bottle caps for North Central.

When asked what motivated her to do this, Thomas said, “I’ve always liked to donate to worthy causes, and I just felt compelled to help. I asked my mom what we could do, and she made the suggestion. The North Central teenagers who passed away were close to my age. I felt sympathy and compassion for their families and wanted to do something more.”

The caps will be used to make memorial benches for the three students who passed away tragically in a car accident a few weeks ago. The donated bottle caps along with the caps collected this week at RP will be donated to North Central High School tonight at the homecoming game against the Thunderbirds.
