Macy’s Closes For Last Time At Honey Creek Mall

TERRE HAUTE, Ind – One of the major anchor stores at the Honey Creek Mall closed its doors Sunday.

It was the final day of business for the Macy’s store which was formerly the site of L.S. Ayres and, before that, the Root Store.

Over the past two months there has been a going out of business sale going on and very little was left except for a few fixtures.

60 employees lost their jobs with the closure.

The retail giant has closed a few hundred stores over the past few years because of declining sales nationwide.

Macy’s announced the local closure on Jan. 3.

Honey Creek Mall has three remaining anchor stores: Carson’s, J.C. Penney and Sears.

The nearest remaining Macy’s stores are in Indianapolis.
