PARKE COUNTY, Ind – Parke County Police say that a Gosport man was shot Friday afternoon.

It happened around 3 p.m. at a construction site in Rockville.

Officers say that 27-year-old Tyler Deakin was showing a fellow construction worker his handgun while seated in his car when the gun accidentally went off.

Deakin was struck in the left thigh and after being treated by ambulance personnel he was flown to an Indianapolis hospital.

His injuries were not life threatening.

Police say that Deakin was properly licensed to possess the weapon.
