MARSHALL, Ill.  – In Marshall, Illinois a public meeting was held Monday night to hear from residents about buying and selling recreational marijuana.

In Illinois, starting January 1st it will be legal to buy and have recreational marijuana in the state.

Cities around the state can decide if they want the selling of marijuana to be legal in their city limits.

Some are in favor so that it is easier to obtain for medical purposes while others are more interested in the recreational aspects.

Decisions must be made by the end of the year.

There will likely be another public meeting to gather opinions, but a date has not been set.
