INDIANAPOLIS — A Wolcott mother who injected feces multiple times into her sick son’s IV has been found guilty.

Tiffany Alberts appeared in court today, and was found guilty of six counts of aggravated battery and one count of neglect of a dependent.

The boy got a life-threatening blood infection because of what the mother did, and it delayed his treatment for leukemia, said WLFI.

On Nov. 17, 2016, Riley Hospital for Children of Indianapolis began investigating when staff members said the 15-year-old boy began developing unexplained infections.

Alberts was seen on surveillance video injecting an unknown substance into the lines. When she was brought in for questioning she told investigators she put water into her son’s IV to “flush the line” because the medicine they give burned.

Alberts later confessed, saying she had been injecting her son’s IV with feces multiple times since Nov. 13. She said she did it because she wanted to get her son moved to another unit at Riley, where treatment was better.

WLFI says that the boy’s health has improved. He was hospitalized for months, and underwent several surgeries.
