Multi-Agency Pursuit Lands Two Individuals In Jail

CLAY COUNTY, Ind – Friday (4/19/19) around 4:15 p.m., Indiana State Police clocked a Corvette westbound on Interstate 70 near the 23 mile marker 86 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. 

The Trooper attempted to stop the car but the driver refused to pull over.

The driver turned north onto State Road 59 and eventually lost the Trooper.

The Corvette was then spotted traveling southbound on State Road 59, and then on SR 42 where the driver then lost the Trooper again.

A Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the car but also lost it.

A resident called Vigo County Dispatch and reported that the car had pulled into her driveway, drove through her yard, and had parked behind her house. 

The passenger offered to pay the resident if she would help hide them and when she said no they fled.

Around 6:30 p.m. the car was found hiding in a cemetery lnear the Clay County and Vigo County line.  

The female was found near by and arrested.

The make driver was found a short distance from the cemetery by 6:45 p.m.

The driver, 29 year old Wardell Jackson McClendon, of Columbus, Georgia was wanted out of Georgia on numerous charges including, aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, and credit card fraud.

The female passenger, 24 year old Kdaijah Clifttela Lanier, of Phenix City, Alabama was wanted in Alabama for check forgery.
