New Trial Date Set For Man Accused In Childs Death

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – A new trial date has been set for a Fontanet man facing charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in death in connection with the February 2017 death of a disabled 9-year-old child.

Hubert Kraemer’s jury trial was to start later this month but will now start on October 29th with a pre-trial hearing on August 23rd.

Kraemer was one of four defendants arrested in connection with the starvation death of 9-year-old Cameron Hoopingarner.

If convicted, Kraemer faces up to 40 years in prison.

His wife, Robin Kraemer, who was the primary caregiver and had cared for the child since he was three years old, has already been tried, convicted, and sentenced to 36 ½ years in prison for her part in the child’s death.

Hoopingarner died February 21st of severe malnutrition.
