One Dead, Two Face Charges After Overnight Shooting

TERRE HAUTE, Ind – Terre Haute Police are investigating an early Sunday morning shooting.

In a press release Assistant Police Chief Shawn Keen said that around 3 a.m. Sunday morning officers were called to a shooting at 2221 Cleveland Avenue.  When they arrived the found several people outside the residence and discovered an 18 year-old male on the living room floor with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head.  Terre Haute Fire Department medics responded to the scene and determined the male was deceased.

A handgun was also observed in the room with the victim.  Officers had initially been told by a Dylan M. Morgan that the victim had accidentally shot himself.  As investigators processed the scene and interviewed witnesses, it became clear the victim did not shoot himself.

Police say that their investigation shows that the victim was shot by 20 year old Dylan M. Morgan.

Investigators learned that alcohol and drugs were being consumed, and that Morgan had recklessly pointed the firearm at the victim prior to its discharge.

Morgan was arrested on charges of Reckless Homicide and Altering the Scene of a Death.

Morgan’s girlfriend and resident of the house, 20 year old Sabrei Neace was also arrested on charges of Obstruction of Justice and Maintaining a Common Nuisance.

The investigation is ongoing and all evidence will be reviewed with the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time pending notification to the family.
