One Hurt As Car Goes Airborne And Hits Tree In Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind – Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a single car accident on CR550 North at the Putnam/Hendricks line around 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Police say that the vehicle ran off the road, stuck a guard rail and then became airborne eventually striking a tree head on and landed in a creek.

Bystanders were nearby and immediately came to the driver’s aid and used creek water to extinguish a fire in the engine compartment.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
