One Killed, One Injured In Friday Night Crash

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Around 9:40 Friday night, the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Indiana State Police and Otter Creek Fire Department were called to a two vehicle crash on Hasselberger Avenue just east of 13th Street in northern Vigo County.

Police say that a car driven by 61 year old Regina Hair of Terre Haute, was traveling westbound when it was struck head on by an eastbound vehicle, driven by a seventeen year old male of Terre Haute.

Chief Deputy John Moats says that the teens car crossed over the double center line at a high rate of speed.

Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles and transported to Union Hospital where Hair was pronounced dead a short time later and the juvenile remains hospitalized.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and airbags did deploy.

The crash remains under investigation but drugs and vehicle speed appear to be factors in this crash.

Charges are pending against the juvenile once released from the hospital.
