Police Shooting Justifiable, Man Arrested For Aiding Criminal

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Tuesday night just before 10p.m. Indiana State Police served a Vigo County arrest warrant on 47-year-old James D. Blair of 2123 4th Avenue, Terre Haute

Blair was arrested on charges of Assisting a Criminal (level 5 felony) and False Informing (Class B misdemeanor).

Bond was set at $25,000 with no 10%.

The arrest stems from events surrounding the fatal police action shooting of Michael R. Reynolds on March 06, at 2123 4th Avenue.

Reynolds was a wanted for shooting and killing a woman and shooting and seriously injuring a man during the night of March 5th.

Reynolds escaped a perimeter at 2214 1st Avenue and made his way in the dark to the Blair residence on 4th Avenue.

Police say that security video showed a white pickup, driven by Blair, on the south Terre Haute Walmart. Reynolds got out of that truck, went into the store and purchase several items, including a cell phone.

The video shows Reynolds get back into the pickup and leave the parking lot.

The video surveillance contradicted the original statements made by Blair to police about what happened that night.

Later on March 06, Reynolds ran from the 4th Avenue home and threatened police who opened fire and killed Reynolds.

On Wednesday, Vigo County Prosecutor Terry Modesitt ruled the police action shooting justifiable and no charges will be filed against the officers involved.
