Restaurant Owners Accused Of Not Paying Taxes On $8 Million

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The owners of seven Teppanyaki/Hokkaido restaurants across Indiana are facing charges of failing to pay over $8 million in state sales taxes between 2014 to 2016.

In Terre Haute, the owner of Hokkaido Japanese Buffet on U.S. 41 in the Towne South Plaza , Ji Rong Lin, is facing multiple counts after he allegedly under reported the amount of income from cash sales by 46%.

Other cities with a location involved in the investigation include three locations in Indianapolis, one in Lafayette, one in Fort Wayne, and one in Marion.

Six other people connected to those other locations are also facing charges.

Initial hearing dates have not yet been set for any of those charged.
