TERRE HAUTE, Ind – Earlier this week Select Genetics held an Open House and Ribbon Cutting ceremony for its new hatchery in Terra Haute.

Local officials were on hand and able to tour what company representatives called the largest turkey hatchery in the world.

Currently the new facility is equipped to set over 41 million eggs a year and has a full capacity of 60 million eggs.

The design is similar to a hospital to prevent the introduction of diseases and to ensure the welfare of the birds.

The first hatching of poults is slated for September.
