PARKE COUNTY, Ind.  – A Vigo County school protection officer has been arrested and now fired.

The Parke County Sheriff’s Department arrested 32-year-old Nathaniel ‘Jake’ Arney, of Rockville on Wednesday.

Police say that he was engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a juvenile female in 2017. At the time he was a coach at the former Rockville High School, which is now known as Parke Heritage High School.

Once officials of the Vigo County School Corporation learned about Arney’s arrest and then verified it, he was fired from his job as a school resource officer.

Arney served as a coach at Rockville High School and a Parke County Reserve Deputy for the last year and a half.

Arney has also been terminated from the Parke County Sheriff’s department.

Arney is facing one count of child seduction and has been released from the Parke County Jail after paying a $15,000 cash-only bond.

Arney has been terminated from his position as a reserve officer with the Parke County Sheriff’s Department.

Vigo County School officials released a statement about Arney and his termination Thursday afternoon. You can read it below.
