VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – Some progress is being made on selecting a site for the construction of a new Vigo County Jail.

County Commissioners approved some preliminary work to be done on one potential site at State Road 63 and Springhill which appears to be the leading site.

Local experts will survey and check the feasibility of the site.

That will take up to three weeks to complete and cost $12,000.

Other sites behind the mall and on Haythorne Avenue could still be considered.

County leaders hope to have a decision on a site by February 13th.
