Some Students Walk Out To Protest

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Students participated in protests across the country Wednesday after a deadly school shooting a month ago in Parkland, Florida.

The teens in many cases wanted more school safety and gun control.

Locally about 100 students at Terre Haute North Vigo High School decided not to participate in a school sponsored assembly to honor those that were killed but instead decided walk out.

The school provided a designated area with safety measures.

Students stood in silence for 17 minutes, 1 minute for each of the 17 victims and held hand-made posters with names of the victims.

Students who walked out of class will receive a two-hour detention.
