VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) reports that State Road 71 will close on or after Monday, August 27 over Little Vermillion River, about three miles south of State Road 63. The road is scheduled to reopen November 19.

The official detour follows S.R. 63 to U.S. 36 and back to S.R. 71.

This project was awarded to Force Construction Co., Inc. for $5.3 million.  The S.R. 71 Bridge will be replaced and this project also includes a bridge deck replacement and widening of the S.R. 163 Bridge over the Wabash River.  The S.R. 163 work will begin next year.

INDOT reminds motorists to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone.
