INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana voters have elected their final state school’s superintendent after action in the state legislature.

On Tuesday the state Senate voted 29-19 to approve a bill making the position one appointed by the governor. The measure now goes to Gov. Eric Holcomb for his signature.

Beginning in 2021, the Indiana Department of Education will be led by a secretary of education.
