Sullivan County Officials Work To Solve Jail Overcrowding

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind.  – Sullivan County officials are working to address an overcrowding problem at their jail.

Sheriff Clark Cottom says one-third of the Sullivan County jail population is being housed in other facilities and that they were at 200% capacity at the first of the year.

The question is whether to expand the current jail or build a new one.

They also need to determine the best way to pay for whatever they decide to do.

Leaders are talking with several firms about the best way to proceed.
