Sullivan Sheriff Says Thanks During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

UNDATED – This is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week from April 8 to April 14, 2018.

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office is asking everyone to thank the dedicated 911 Communications staff.

In Sullivan County there are 15 people that are part of that staff including Eric Cox, Brant Ford, Holly Bovenschen, Heather Coffman, Jeff Arnett,  Stevie Flath, Rachel Dienhart, Nikki Underhill, Jeff Griffith, Scott Bowman, David McCormick, Aarika Street, David Lapray, Amy Decker, and Eric Schwindy.

Sheriff Clark Cottom says that these individuals provide around the clock essential life saving services to the community.

They are highly trained staff members that are the often heard, but seldom seen steady voices behind the two-way mic.

They report to duty  never knowing whether the next phone call is concerning a barking dog or CPR in progress.

Cottom said that “their responsibilities in our recently renovated, state-of-the-art dispatch center, also includes keeping a watchful eye over the jail, monitoring all exits and entrances, as well as looking out for the safety of correctional staff, and the welfare of the inmates.”

He added that their department wanted to say Thank You for their efforts.
