Terre Haute Man Arrested On Multiple Charges After Running From Police

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Friday night (9/13/19) around 11:20 p.m., Indiana State Police Trooper Brad Fyfe spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Poplar Street.  The vehicle was clocked at 50 mph in a 30 mph zone.

The vehicle refused to stop and ran a stop sign at south 8th St. and Crawford St.

Once clearing the intersection, the vehicle turned immediately and came to an abrupt stop behind a residence.

The male driver eventually jumped out of the vehicle and started to run.

The driver stumbled and fell once and then continued to run but fell again and was apprehended.

Police say that 36 year old Terrance L. Ballard, of Terre Haute had a BAC of .20%.

Police also found a loaded revolver in his vehicle which he was not allowed to have because he is a convicted violent felon.

Ballard is being held without bond on the following charges.

 

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Level 5 Felony
  • Resisting Law Enforcement Using a Vehicle, Class A Misdemeanor
  • Resisting Law Enforcement on Foot, Class A Misdemeanor
  • Reckless Driving Endangering the Safety of Others, Class C Misdemeanor
  • Possession of Marijuana, Class B Misdemeanor
  • Operators License Never Received, Class A Misdemeanor
  • Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering Persons, Class C Misdemeanor
  • Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with a BAC >.15, Class A Misdemeanor
