Terre Haute Man Identified As Suspect In Fatal Hit And Run

RENSSELAER, Ind. — A Terre Haute man has been identified as a suspect in a fatal hit and run crash in Jasper County, Indiana.

Investigators believe that 43-year-old Joseph Bland of Terre Haute was the driver of a semi that killed Melissa Deno of Rensselaer on October 10th.

The semi was found in East St. Louis, Illinois just a few days after the crash.

Police say that the semi ran over the car and sheared off its roof at the intersection of U.S. 231 and State Road 16.

Deno was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says that at this time, a report has been filed with the Jasper County Prosecutors Office and charges are pending.
